Cocking Lever Problem

Postby dwood on Fri Aug 10, 2018 8:43 pm

My FX Ranchero cocking lever has given problems occasionally in the past. What happens is that is that all at once it will not cock the mechanism smoothly. Applying a little force finally gets it to cock and then it might be ok for another dozen shots or so.

Today it quit working. It can be pulled back about half way and then meets a "solid wall" of resistance and no reasonable amount of force will get it to cock.

I own a machine shop and have reasonable mechanical skills but could not figure out how to take the gun apart. Does anyone have step-by-step instructions on how to dismantle a Ranchero? I believe it is similar to several other FX models.

Ranchero is same as FX Cyclone but with cocking leve on left instead of right. Go to Cyclone Grand Breakdown with lots of Pics. Just be careful as the tiny bal bearings that make the lever action smooth are very apt to be lost. This should help a lot.
